Synopsis for "Fortune and Steel"
Spider-Man stops a team of techno-thieves from stealing a shipment of ceramic conductor chips. One of them tells Spider-Man of a plan to kill hundreds of people in Fortune, New Jersey. Meanwhile, Speedball calls Night Thrasher to say "hi," but is captured by a Target Technologies team mid-sentence. Night Thrasher runs a computer check and comes across a memo from Target warning its employees to stay away from Fortune. He calls the New Warriors. In Vancouver, a Target Technologies team captures Auric and Silver. In Fortune, Spidey is attacked by a Target Technologies team, planning to use their deadly new wave cannon on the town and flood it to cover any evidence. The New Warriors arrive and defeat the Target team. Caldwell, one of the Target men, warns them of the bomb and they defuse it. In a hidden facility, Justin Hammer, Jonas Hale, Carlton Drake and others meet as their chairman muses over seizing the captured heroes' powers and, through them, the world. Spider-Man and the New Warriors break into the Target Technologies complex and are attacked by Dreadnoughts. They quickly defeat them, but are greeted by the new Dreadnoughts 2000.
