Synopsis for "Family Matters: Part One"
In Bagalia, Arcade is chatting with a supervillain about not getting paid for the Big Man plan, longing for the old days of deathtraps for supervillains, only for the call to be cut short by Kraven the hunter. While thinking the hunter was there to kill, Kraven surprised him with a business opportunity. In New York, Peter and Mary Jane are having dinner with the Connors family, Peter reflecting on the need for family. When Martha brings up Curt's enthusiasm at teaching again, he brings up his still open offer for Peter to consider and Billy brings up his longing to go back to school. Given their circumstances, neither a public nor mutant school are viable options, but Billy letting slip he has a burner phone to contact his old friends leads to him and Curt fighting. After dinner, Curt helps Peter and Mary Jane to street level to see them off, with Peter sympathetic to his parental situation given his own childhood under Aunt May.
Elsewhere, Aunt May is with her lawyer, Brett, who informs her of her depleted funds after late husband's publishers were less inclined to pay royalties and the Parker Industries stock. Given her financial situation, Brett fails at trying to romance her and gets wine splashed in his face as May exits the restaurant. Outside, she finds a homeless man being assaulted and uses Peter's holographic projector to scare off the thugs before treating the man to dinner- with Brett footing the bill. Saving the specifics, the man explains how his life ended, becoming impossible to patch back up and he wound up homeless. Learning he was once a journalist, May starts to talk about Peter's work as a photographer before dinner is interrupted by a stampeding Rhino.
As Peter and Mary Jane are walking back, with Peter debating why he hasn't taken Connor's offer, they see on the Time Square news monitors about Taskmaster and Black Ant. Arriving there, Spider-Man stops Taskmaster before he can hurt anyone, and requests a team-up with defensive Rhino to stop the villainous duo. As Taskmaster dukes it out with Spider-Man, Black Ant has difficulty with Rhino so he uses a big gun to blast him, but hits the restaurant and endangers May and the patrons.

ā¢ Sure, heās been on Spideyās side for a little while, but thatās after YEARS of him making Spider-Manās life a living heck.
ā¢ I feel like this amount of responsibility should come with even more power.
ā¢ Anyway, who, other than most of New York, would want to punish J. Jonah Jameson?Notes
