History
Animal Man believed he was "Lord and Master" of all animals. He would track down hunters and other trespassing explorers who threaten his "Kingdom" and kill them. When the Black Hood came to the rescue of one of these men, he killed Animal Man's black panther. Because of this unpardonable crime, Animal Man pursued the Black Hood. When they confronted each other at the zoo, the Black Hood caused Animal Man to trip and fall into a snake pit below.
