Overview
This paperback collects two Azrael storylines: Azrael: Death's Dark Knight and Azrael: The Eighth Deadly Sin.
The Azrael: Death's Dark Knight was originally published in its own comic book mini-series Azrael: Death's Dark Knight from May to July, 2009 as part of the Battle for the Cowl event. This storyline was written by Fabian Nicieza and illustrated by Frazier Irving. In this story a new Avenging Angel arrives in Gotham City. The ex-police officer Michael Lane is drafted by the Order of Purity to take on the mantle of Azrael, God's Sword of Justice.
The Azrael: The Eighth Deadly Sin storyline was originally published in the Batman Annual and Detective Comics Annual from October, 2009. This storyline was also written by Fabian Nicieza. The illustrations are by Jim Calafiore and Tom Mandrake. In this story, Azrael (Michael Lane) teams up with Batman and Robin in an attempt to stop an ancient demonic cult from sacrificing seven children in an effort to resurrect the embodiment of the eighth deadly sin.
