Synopsis for the 1st Story

At a secret Cabal base in Montana, several Daemonites argue over the direction of the group.  S’Ryn arrives with Pike, declares himself the Cabal’s new leader, and ensures its members loyalty by killing a Daemonite who challenges him.  The next day in Chicago, Backlash and Taboo hide out and plan to sneak into an upcoming celebrity gala which S’Ryn will attend in his guise as Alexander Shaw.  Meanwhile, the Chicago Police commissioner assuages the gala organizer’s concerns about safety at the event by introducing the officer assigned to provide security:  the Savage Dragon.  Later, Officer Alex Wilde briefs the Dragon on the gala attendees, including business executive Jacob Marlowe.  S’Ryn knows Marlowe is actually Lord Emp of the Kherubim and plans to kill him to gain the loyalty of the other Daemonite lords.  That night, Cyberjack helps Backlash and Taboo infiltrate the gala disguised as guests.  Backlash spots S’Ryn and Pike just before S’Ryn reveals himself and attacks Marlowe.  Backlash orders Taboo to keep Pike busy while he battles S’Ryn.  S’Ryn blasts him into a wall and is about to kill him when the Savage Dragon drops in through a skylight.  At the U.S. Marine Corps base in Quantico, Virginia, General Gant briefs a team of bounty hunters called the Chasers on Backlash’s breakout of Taboo from prison. The U.S. government has deemed Backlash a threat, and the Chasers have been hired to neutralize him.
