Synopsis for the 1st Story
Azrum briefs Backlash, Jodi, and Department PSI on Backlash’s heritage and the threat posed by Haroth: Backlash is the half-human son of the Kherubim lord S’ylton, founder of the city of Atlantis. With the aid of three human wizards—Azrum, Haroth, and Tapestry—S’ylton and the Atlanteans fought against an invading alien race, the D’rahn. During the conflict, one of S’ylton’s knights fled with a young Backlash. S’ylton ultimately defeated the D’rahn by luring them inside a pyramid while the wizards used the Scroll of Displacement to trap them there. The Scroll is the same one Haroth stole from the museum in New York, and he plans to use it to free the D’rahn in the belief they will evolve him to a higher state of being. But, to free the D’rahn, Haroth also needs the ring Backlash inherited from his father and gave to Jodi. Backlash and Giovanni are deeply skeptical, and, despite pleas from Jodi, Backlash angrily dismisses Azrum. Suddenly, Haroth teleports in with a horde of demons and attacks. Dingo and Taboo fight the demons, and Backlash battles Haroth, but the wizard swiftly overpowers him. Haroth then takes control of Jodi’s mind and forces her to give him the ring. Taboo attacks him, and Haroth is stunned to discover she can hurt him. Giovanni helps Dingo and orders the injured Haroth to stand down. Recognizing he is outnumbered, the wizard teleports away. Backlash concedes Azrum was right and agrees to help him. Meanwhile, Haroth materializes over the Sea of Crete and uses the power of the Scroll to raise Atlantis to the surface.
