Synopsis for the 1st Story

Backlash, Cyberjack, Taboo, the Savage Dragon, and the WildC.A.T.s emerge from the rubble of the explosion.  Emp thanks Void for saving them, but she says she was aided by an unknown force.  The Dragon still wants to arrest Backlash and Taboo, but Zealot puts her sword to his throat and forces him to let them go. Just as Void teleports away with them, the Chasers arrive and use their federal authority to take over the scene. Backlash, Cyberjack, Taboo, and the WildC.A.T.s materialize on a New York rooftop.  Emp invites Backlash to join the team, but he declines citing the enmity between him and Grifter.  They part ways, and Cyberjack takes Backlash and Taboo back to his apartment.  While Jack rests, Backlash and Taboo change clothes and go out for drinks.  She explains how the Cabal recruited her from the streets and experimented on her to give her superpowers.  Likewise, Backlash reveals how he got his powers in an experiment on Team 7.  They go back to Jack’s apartment and end up having sex.  In San Francisco, Wetworks leader Jackson Dane tells his boss Armand Waering he is going to New York, and Waering requests he inspect security at a Waering Industries facility there.  The next evening, Cyberjack asks Backlash to steal a virtual reality device from Waering that will enable him to hack the Cabal’s computer network.  Taboo insists on going along, but Backlash orders her to stay on the roof while he sneaks into the facility.  Inside, Dane is conducting his inspection when he detects the intrusion. As Taboo is knocked out by a shadowy assailant, Backlash runs into Dane, and they scuffle until they recognize each other.  Just then, Taboo’s assailant appears and knocks them both unconscious with an energy blast.
