History
Ignorant boy! This is not a world, a universe in which a free man can afford to be soft. I will teach you to be ruthless Kaldur'ahm, even if I must beat that lesson into your skull!

Assaulting Atlantis
Black Manta invaded Atlantis with his troops while Aquaman was away. The whole attack was a diversion to get a giant ancient star fish that was still alive frozen in ice. Aqualad's interference caused his mission to fail, so he destroyed the starfish. He then reported to the Light.
5 Years Later
Black Manta has become a more prominent member of the Light, replacing Ocean Master. He allowed his son Kaldur to join him, and gives him is trust after completing a series of missions and secret tests.
