Solicit Synopsis
CHAOS WAR tie-in! The Vision. Captain Mar-Vell. Yellowjacket. Deathcry. Swordsman. Dr. Druid. All lost their lives in the line of duty...or in disgrace. When Earth's Mightiest Heroes are themselves laid low in the carnage of the CHAOS WAR and the graves give up their dead, these six find themselves mysteriously returned, to RE-ASSEMBLE against the CHAOS KING's most fearsome ally -- one of the Avengers' greatest foes! It's a final chance at redemption, a second life, and most importantly, to prove -- once and for all -- that they are worthy of the name... AVENGERS.
Notes
- The first page of this issues shows the deaths of the six main characters: The first panel shows Swordsman's death at the hands of Kang as seen in Giant-Size Avengers #2. The second panel shows Yellowjacket's death at the hands of an Immortus-controlled Iron Man in Avengers: The Crossing #1. The third panel shows Captain Marvel's death due to cancer from Marvel Graphic Novel #1. The fourth panel shows Doctor Druid's death at the hands of Nekra in Druid #4. The fifth panel shows Deathcry's death at the hands of Captain Universe (Gabriel Vargas) in Annihilation Conquest - Starlord #2. The final panel shows Vision's death at the hands of an out-of-control She-Hulk (the result of an insane Scarlet Witch) in Avengers #500.
- The rest of Earth's heroes were put in comas in Chaos War #1.
- In this issue, Captain Marvel asks the Swordsman if they have met before. They have in the original Thanos War, particularly Captain Marvel #31.
