Synopsis for "Offensive Content"

Since they were left with only one H-Dial between the two of them, Nelson Jent and Roxie Hodder have been sharing it, taking turns. Unfortunately, despite the power his most recent dial has afforded him, Roxie will not let him go out in the persona of Chief Mighty Arrow, because he perpetuates a negative stereotype of Native Americans.

She explains that she has kept a dossier of all of the heroes she has dialed that she was too embarrassed to go out as - even with her Manteau mask on. Among them are Kid Torture and Golliwog, whose racially charged appearance was a definite no-no. Grumpily, Nelson understands where she's coming from, but still wants some action. Even so, he sits himself on the couch and surfs the channels for any news that might require his attention, regardless of his appearance.

Curious, he asks whether Roxie would ever go out as a hero without her mask on, and she responds that she would not. Last time she did that, her mind began to assimilate some of the identity's memories, and it made her confused. In order to keep a hold on her real identity, she has maintained the Manteau identity as her link to herself.

Roxie goes down into her lab to do more research on the dials, while Nelson becomes increasingly annoyed by just how little is going on in Littleville. A fire he hoped to stop turns out to have been stopped already, an hour before he saw the footage. A robbery is stopped by his persona Chief Mighty Arrow's own horse, due to a series of unfortunate decisions on Nelson's part. He turns his thoughts to Roxie and her research, recalling how she didn't know that there was another dial in Littleville until he found it, and wondering at what role this "O" person played in the dials' existence.

Giving up, Nelson becomes drowsy, and nearly falls asleep. He wakes himself with a start, remembering that falling asleep while in the person of a dialed hero is a big mistake. It's hard enough to have normal dreams after using the dial, but dreaming someone else's dreams is an entirely worse experience.

Finally, a breaking news report shows some kind of costumed attacker in Littleville causing havoc. Happily, Nelson leaps into action, only to have his powers dissipate. As per their agreement, it is now Roxie's turn, even though he didn't get any action out of his dial. Roxie dials a hero, and before leaving, she warns Nelson that before they spotted the emergency, she discovered something which may mean that there is another dial somewhere out there.
