Synopsis for "The Final Analysis"

Geiger and Det. Sharp track Doc Samson back to the subway tunnel, but the cops on scene say he just left. Next, they track him to Jennifer Walters’s hospital room but miss him again. Finally, they find him in a store buying a nudie magazine. He takes them to the magazine’s publisher and explains that Patchwork bases the composite corpses he makes on centerfold models. Samson suggests Geiger pose nude to bait Patchwork, but then Polaris arrives seeking a therapy session. Samson takes her aside, she talks about her recent breakup with Havok, and their conversation makes Samson realize Patchwork is Kyle Barker, the suicidal jumper he saved. He informs Sharp, and one of the magazine’s employees reveals Barker works there. Sitting at his computer, Barker recalls being abused by his grandmother when he was a boy for looking at nudie magazines. When Sharp comes to arrest him, he transforms into Patchwork. He hurls her away, but then Samson, Geiger, and Polaris arrive to confront him. Rather than fight, Patchwork breaks through a wall and flees. Samson tells Sharp to give Patchwork’s identity to the media. At Samson’s suggestion, reporter Rudy Pinkerton visits Jennifer for an interview. As Samson planned, she gets angry and transforms back into She-Hulk. Later, in Barker’s room at a sanitarium, she and Polaris find photos of gamma radiation, and Samson deduces it is from Empire State University’s particle accelerator. At the university, Geiger learns Barker has access to the accelerator and that the radioactive materials that power it are missing. Samson, Polaris, Sharp, and She-Hulk meet up with Geiger, and she realizes she and Patchwork got their powers in the same incident. Samson and Polaris find Patchwork activating the accelerator, intent on killing himself. To save him, Samson exposes himself to radiation, regains his full powers, and shuts off the accelerator. The next day at Sharp’s precinct, Samson dons a new costume and tells the press he will testify that Patchwork is insane. Afterward, he gives words of encouragement to Polaris, leaves Geiger a lock of his hair so she can retain her powers, and gives Sharp the bill for his services.
