History
Tired of being defeated over and over by the X-Men, Magneto entered in an alliance with Deathbird, and together, they killed her sister Lilandra, allowing them to take control of the Shi'ar Empire, using its military forces to attack the X-Men and humanity.
Close to be wiped out, the X-Men were forced to enhanced themselves, in order to protect Earth from the Shi'ar armies. They used one of Forge's final inventions to enhance their powers close to a god-like level.
