Ellen Lane is the mother of Lois Lane.
History
Ellen has a somewhat antagonistic relationship with her ex-husband, Sam. This tends to put a strain on things when they visit their daughter during the holidays or attend her weddings.

Notes
- This version of the character is exclusive to the continuity of the television series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman and is an adaptation of Ella Lane. The original character was created by Robert Bernstein and Kurt Schaffenberger and first appeared in Superman's Girl Friend, Lois Lane #13.
- Ellen Lane was portrayed by Phyllis Coates for the character's first appearance. The role was taken over by Beverly Garland for the character's later appearances in the series.
