Synopsis for "Back to Reality"

Two weeks ago, the damaged Midnight Runner plummeted toward Hammer Bay, but Meggan used her powers to re-energize its generators, enabling Nightcrawler to crash land the plane. Now, Shadowcat reflects on Excalibur’s mission and talks with Pete Wisdom at the Genoshan Parliament. Later, Douglock drives them and Meggan through the city, and Wisdom recalls Excalibur encountering starving mutates after they landed. A squad of human guerillas attacked, and the team struck back only for a trio of mutate rebels to intervene. When a mutate mistook Wisdom for a guerilla and tried to kill him, he retaliated with his mutant power to generate “hot knives” of pure energy. Now, he shows Shadowcat a sample of the special British ammunition they were sent to investigate: a bullet with a screaming face on it. On Muir Island, Rory tells Moira the media is calling about her Legacy Virus infection, but she refuses to talk about it until she determines how it was leaked to the press. Back in Genosha, Sugar Man monitors Excalibur from his secret lair. Britanic is enraged to learn from ex-mutate Jenny Ransome that the special bullets were made by the British military from the skin of a mutant 20 years ago, and Britanic’s father consulted on the process. Afterward, Jenny and Britanic rendezvous with Wisdom and the others at the late Genegineer’s mansion. Inside, Shadowcat discovers the door to the Genegineer’s old lab is wired to explode, but Douglock uses his techno-organic form to disable it and gain entry. He then interfaces with the lab computers, accesses the Genegineer’s audio journal, and discovers the Genegineer learned how to create mutates from someone named S.M. Realizing Excalibur is close to discovering his existence, Sugar Man remotely detonates the lab, but the team escapes just in time. Nearby, Scicluna and Threadgold watch Excalibur and plot to acquire the mutate process.
