Synopsis for "Be With Me"
Aboard X-Factor’s jet, members Forge and Polaris are on their way back from a conference in New York and arguing about mutant-human relations when the plane’s sensors detect Strange spewing energy near a chemical plant. Polaris jumps out and blasts Strange with her magnetic powers, slamming him into the ground. Strange recalls fleeing New York after Vincent Stevens refused to merge with him. He flew all night, wandered into a forest, and briefly tried to merge with a deer. Then, he decided he needs to merge with someone as incomplete as he is. Now, he asks Polaris to merge with him, but she refuses thinking he is hitting on her. Strange rambles about his pain and blasts Polaris with energy, but she deflects it with a magnetic shield. Nearby, Forge lands the jet and accesses the X-Men’s computer file on Strange. As Forge hastily constructs a weapon to defeat Strange, Strange chases Polaris into the forest and forcibly merges with her. Just as their two minds reach an understanding, Forge blasts them with the weapon, separating them and seemingly obliterating Strange. Polaris berates Forge, calling him out for attacking something he did not understand. Strange reconstitutes himself, accuses Polaris of the same thing, and flies off in search of a willing partner. Rather than pursue him, she and Forge take off in their jet. Forge calls Professor X to brief him on the encounter and credits Polaris for stopping him from killing Strange.
