Synopsis for "Shattershot part 2: The Masters of Inevitability"
On Mojoworld, warriors sent by Mojo attack the headquarters of a rebel broadcast network, but they are defeated by its super-powered strike team, the Death Sponsors. To humiliate Mojo further, the Sponsors’ boss orders them to go to Earth and find either Spiral, Arize, or the rebellion’s “fallen messiah”. At Xavier’s School, the X-Men’s Gold team is disturbed when new member Bishop devises an extreme solution to a Danger Room exercise. Meanwhile, Jean telepathically scans Arize’s memory to try and cure his amnesia. She confirms that the bipedal race he created was enslaved so he imbued one with the “messiah imperative”—self-determination. That memory causes Arize’s mind to lock up so Jean ends the scan and briefs Professor X. In Tokyo, the Death Sponsors briefly materialize, detect Arize, and teleport away. They arrive outside Xavier’s School, triggering an alarm, and Archangel, Bishop, and Iceman come out to fight them. Two of the Sponsors teleport inside and ambush the other X-Men. Their teleporter grabs Arize, but Jean intervenes, inadvertently causing the three of them to teleport outside. Finally, the Sponsor called Sweepzweak neutralizes the X-Men’s powers, knocking them all out except for Bishop. Arize demands to know why the Sponsors want him, and their teleporter restores his memory. They start to teleport away with him, but Bishop shoots the teleporter. The Death Sponsors vanish, leaving Arize behind. The X-Men regroup as Arize, now knowing who he is, blames himself for the horrors of Mojoworld and declares he must learn why it all went wrong. After he leaves, Professor X expresses his reservations about Bishop’s aggressive methods.

Synopsis for "Angel of Death"
Inside a nuclear power plant, Archangel battles mutant terrorists in Mandroid armor, enabling the plant workers to escape. When the terrorists shoot him and leave him for dead, he has a vision of a blue-skinned woman before passing out. He first met her years earlier while pinned to a tunnel wall during the massacre of the Morlocks. She introduced herself as Amalgam, an angel of death, and offered to absorb his mind and powers so he could, in a way, fight for mutants after his death. At first, he dismissed her as a hallucination, but after she demonstrated her powers, he agreed. But, Amalgam discovered she could not absorb him and, after looking into the future, said it was not his time. Now, Archangel wakes up in a hospital bed with the X-Men by his side. They reveal his intervention at the power plant gave the authorities time to defeat the terrorists. The terrorists’ leader was killed in the battle, and his followers claim an angel of death appeared to claim him.

Synopsis for "Roots of the Past"
Storm finds Bishop standing outside the mansion, brooding about his situation. He relates being stranded in the past after chasing Trevor Fitzroy, meeting the X-Men, and the deaths of his men Malcolm and Randall. Pointing to an empty field, he goes on to reveal how, in his time, the only remnant of Xavier’s School was an old oak tree standing there, supposedly planted decades earlier by the X-Men. Storm tries to comfort Bishop, but he angrily turns away and insists on being alone. After she leaves, he falls asleep. He wakes up to see Storm has planted a young oak tree and generated a rain shower to water it. Encouraged by her gesture, he returns to the mansion.
