Synopsis for "Memories of Tomorrow"
Grifter recalls the WildC.A.T.s’ pursuit of the Puritans thus far, and Spartan warns that the Puritans and Helspont are both trying to alter history, threatening the fabric of reality. Mythos deduces that the team has landed in the distant past aboard the Daemonite mothership shortly before it crashed on Earth. Nearby, a Kherubim ship on a scientific expedition sets course for Earth at the behest of Lord Emp. Emp’s bodyguard, Zannah of the Coda, carries on a secret affair with the ship’s first officer, Stratos. The Puritans materialize aboard the ship, unaware one of their number is possessed by a Daemonite. In the present, Emp flies the MIRV toward New York while Jules tends to Warblade’s injuries. In the past, Cole and Mythos deduce the Puritans’ plan to destroy both starships before they land on Earth, that de Medici’s squad is aboard the Kherubim ship, and that a second Puritan strike team has time traveled back to the Daemonite ship. De Medici and her squad destroy one of the Kherubim ship’s power cores, forcing it to decloak and become visible to the Daemonite ship. They then arm a nuclear weapon, but the Daemonite infiltrator reveals itself and attacks. Just as it prepares to kill de Medici, it is decapitated by Zannah.
Trivia
- Emp appears in two time periods in this story: in the present as leader of the WildC.A.T.s and in the distant past as a Kherubim lord aboard the Titan, the Kherubim starship.
