Fury Secret Base 8

History

The Playground is a secret base of unknown generation, operated by Nick Fury. Its original purpose is classified. It is located on the borders of Syria, Iraq and Saudi Arabia, which suggests that there are valid reasons for its secrecy.

Marvel Cinematic Universe (Earth-199999)

As with Earth-616, Playground is one of Fury's Secret Bases, the name coined by Billy Koenig. The base formerly belonged to the SSR, in which Agent Peggy Carter hid a great many classified documents in concealed vaults.^[1]

In the present day, the Playground is set as the secret headquarters for the next incarnation of S.H.I.E.L.D., which the newly-appointed Director Coulson is tasked to rebuild from scratch.^[2]

The Playground is eventually captured by a splinter S.H.I.E.L.D. faction led by Robert Gonzales, though Coulson escapes through a hidden elevator.^[3]
