George Reeves (b. January 5, 1914 – d.June 16, 1959) was

Georeg Reeves starred as Superman/Clark Kent in the 1951 motion picture Superman and the Mole Men. When the series The Adventures of Superman was launched based on that film, he reprised the role for the entire run of the show from 1952 through 1958. This included a guest appearance as Superman on the show I Love Lucy in 1956. He also directed three of the episodes that aired in 1958. The series had been slated for a new season, with casting, costuming, and scripts prepared, when Reeves died of a gunshot wound to the head in June 1969. Having lost its star and another member of the primary cast, the plans for a new season were cancelled.
