- Batman references being almost recruited into the Sinestro Corps at an earlier date. This occurred in Green Lantern (Volume 4) #17, see excerpt.
- Vixen mentions that the W:C:DC:Wallace West (New Earth)Flash hasn't given them a definitive answer yet. He just came back from being lost in the Speed Force during the Lightning Saga as of Justice League of America (Volume 2) #10, and has yet to confirm that he will rejoin the League until Justice League of America (Volume 2) #12.
- Cyborg Superman and the Guardians of the Universe talk about the values of life. He argues that without it, there would be no fear, avarice or hate. Ganthet and Sayd argue that without it there would be no hope, compassion or love. Another Guardian tells them that this is about maintaining order, and to leave emotion out of it. This is almost a direct metaphor for the War of Light leading into Blackest Night.
- Superboy-Prime was imprisoned in the middle of a Red Sun Eater back in Infinite Crisis #7.
- Amon Sur says that Kyle Rayner was the first Green Lantern to disgrace him. This happened in Green Lantern (Volume 3) #164 when Sur was working for the Black Circle.
