Synopsis for "City of Angels part 1"

On the California-Nevada border, criminals shoot a reporter and abduct the young girl, Manda Williams, she had with her.  The next day, Grifter is in a shootout with drug smugglers aboard an airplane on which he stowed away.  He parachutes out just before it crashes, landing in the surf off Venice Beach in Los Angeles.  Cash crawls ashore and passes out, later waking up to a homeless man named Eddie standing over him.  Elsewhere in California, nun Catherine Williams, a.k.a. the vigilante called Prayer, leaves her convent and visits her daughter’s grave to recover a cross-shaped spear.  That night in L.A., she tracks down and kills hoodlum Joey Mull.  Meanwhile, L.A. Mayor John Thomley hires the mercenary Serge to recover a logbook of illegal funds transfers from his former assistant, Oscar Veda.  Veda is in Venice Beach to sell the logbook to Thomley’s electoral opponent, Mario Reynaldo.  He is met instead by members of the Cannibals gang, sent by Reynaldo, who kill him and take the book.  Grifter hears the murder and exchanges gunfire with the gang.  Then, Serge arrives, kicks Grifter, and takes on the Cannibals himself.  The gang flees, but Grifter is shot, and, unbeknownst to all, Eddie picks up the logbook. A delirious Cash staggers away and hallucinates Zealot approaching him.
