Synopsis for the 1st Story
The woman threatening Hazard with a gun recognizes him from his previous visit to Pepper’s estate and helps him get into the mobster’s office. Pepper reveals to Hazard that Al Reedy—who hired Hazard to find Leo Kyle—paid him to trap Hazard for D’Oro. Pepper triggers an alarm that summons his guards, but Hazard easily fends them off with his powers and leaves. A guard then shows Pepper video footage of two superhumans, Dr. Shock and Nitro Grrl, robbing an L.A. electronics store Pepper uses to launder money. Hazard returns to his office in L.A. and finds Carolyn with Oliver Collins, the man who killed her husband. Hazard calls Collins out for the crime, but he and Carolyn both deny it, and she refuses to work for Hazard until there is proof. In a motel, Dr. Shock and Nitro Grrl talk about using their stolen cash to start new lives. Hazard visits Al Reedy, hands over Leo Kyle, and forces Reedy to give up a phone number for D’Oro. Before leaving, Hazard makes Reedy swallow a ring and strikes him in the face for selling him out.
