TriviaEdit

  • There are many references to the British rock band The Beatles found in this issue. The character of Rocket Raccoon is a lampoon of the eponymous character featured in the song "Rocky Raccoon" from the Beatles' 1968 "White Album". The story from the song, which involves Rocky's attempt to save his girlfriend from a villain, reflects events chronicled in this issue. The title to this issue, "Now Somewhere In the Black Holes of Sirius Major There Lived a Young Boy Name of Rocket Raccoon!" is a play on the opening lyric of the song, Now somewhere in the black mountain hills of Dakota, There lived a young boy named Rocky Raccoon. Another Beatles reference is Rocket's sidekick Wal Rus who happens to be a talking Walrus. Beatles singer/songwriter Paul McCartney was often referred to as the "Walrus".
