Notes
- This issue is reprinted in Essential Hulk, Volume 1 and Marvel Masterworks #8.
- This is technically the final issue of the series. The Hulk appeared last in Fantastic Four (Volume 1) #12. He appears next as an unofficial member of the Avengers in Avengers (Volume 1) #1. The solo adventures of the Hulk continue as back-up stories featured in Tales to Astonish (Volume 1) beginning with issue #60. With issue #102, Tales to Astonish changes its format and title and becomes a Hulk solo book. It remains under that format until the series cancellation in 1999.
- Betty Ross appears next in Avengers (Volume 1) #5.
- General Ross and Rick Jones both appeared last in Fantastic Four (Volume 1) #12. General Ross chronologically appears next in Untold Tales of Spider-Man #5. Rick Jones appears next in Avengers (Volume 1) #1.
- First appearance of the Metal Master. He appears next in Rom the Space Knight #30.
- The Metal Master's home planet is called Astra. This is not to be confused with several characters in the Marvel Universe who also go by the name of Astra.
Trivia
- This is the first time that the Hulk's transformation into Banner is prompted by extreme aggression. This biological mechanism will later become the standard means of transformation for the Hulk in the years to come.
- This is the first time that the Hulk receives a presidential pardon for his past actions. In the following years, he will receive a second presidential pardon in Incredible Hulk #279.
- This is the first issue to demonstrate that Bruce and Betty have mutual feelings for one another. This was actually foreshadowed in the first story in issue #5.
