- This issue shipped to coordinate with the world premiere of the 2008 Iron Man feature film. This issue was published with six alternate covers, including a cover featuring a photo screen capture from the film. Artwork for the variant covers was provided by Salvador Larroca, Joe Quesada, Marko Djurdjevic, Bob Layton and Billy Tan.
- The events from this issue take place after the "Haunted" storyline from Iron Man (Volume 4) #21-28.
- First appearance of Advanced Genocide Mechanics, a splinter cell of the larger Advanced Idea Mechanics.
- Tony Stark has been extremely mindful of any villains who have ever used misappropriated Stark technology. This fear stems back to events originally chronicled during the "Armor Wars" storyline from Iron Man (Volume 1) #225-232.

- This is one of the last professional projects for Marvel Comics by the late colourist Stephane Peru. Peru passed away from a heart attack on February 11th, 2008.
