When the Web's wife wanted a divorce, and then moved in with her mother, she also tipped-off the newspapers and TV stations about her husband's dual identity.
Ironfist heard the news and came knocking. When the Web refused to fight back, he promised his wife he wouldn't anymore, Ironfist took off his battle suit stating, " Any super-hero who would let his little woman do that to him isn't worth fighting." Disillusioned, he stormed out of Web's house grumbling that he was going to retire to the country and raise chickens.
However, his battle suit automated itself and went amok believing the fight was not over. The Web's wife released him from his promise, and he promptly destroyed the motivating device in the suit.
