Korugar City is the capitol city on the planet Korugar. Korugar's protector was the unorthodox Green Lantern officer known as Sinestro. Sinestro used his power ring to subjugate the people of Korugar City. While professing to be acting in their best interests, Sinestro in fact became a ruthless dictator. When news of Sinestro's actions reached the ears of his superiors, the Guardians of the Universe, Sinestro was drummed out of the Green Lantern Corps. In later years, the benevolent Korugarian Katma Tui became the Green Lantern of Sector 1417 and a champion of the people. For a brief period, Salakk took responsibility for Katma's sector, though it is unknown if he ever ventured to Korugar City. Years after Katma's death at the hands of Star Sapphire, another Korugarian was chosen to serve in the Green Lantern Corps - Soranik Natu. Years under Sinestro's rule had poisoned the minds of the residents of Korugar City. As a result, they despised the Green Lantern Corps and all it stood for, believing that all Green Lanterns held the same goals and values as Sinestro. The people of Korugar City held Soranik Natu with great disdain and wanted nothing to do with her. Their opinion of her changed however, when she fought up against Sinestro one on one during the Sinestro Corps War. Now, the citizens of Korugar City regard Soranik as their savior.
