History

Uneasy Company was a Men of War storyline published as part of The New 52. The series used a rotating team of writers and illustrators to tell their own unrelated stories, dealing with themes of war and destruction. Previously used as the name of a World War II-related series, it featured Sgt. Rock's descendant Joe Rock in the modern era. Due to low interest and sales, the series was cancelled midway through the first arc but allowed to finish its initial storyline.

Synopsis

Cpl. Joe Rock ends his most recent tour in the army, and is placed on a special forces team. He is selected for valor in combat, including a record marked by insubordinations that have led to countless tactical victories. The team are sent to track down a senator, gone missing behind enemy lines, without being detected. This mission is interrupted by a superhuman who ruins their plans and destroys the city. Rock becomes Sergeant and acting leader of his team when their field commander dies.[1] They're pinned down by sniper fire, but Rock leads his team out of the difficult situation. The senator's captors are incapacitated and he is rescued. Circe sends them home, with the knowledge that they will be killed for returning.[2] During a sabotage mission, he learns under fire that one of his men has superpowers.[3]
