Synopsis for "Atlantis Attacks part 9: Here Be Monsters!"
Weeks ago, Ghaur and Llyra watched the New Mutants and Sub-Mariner battle a sea monster called by the Horn of Proteus. Ghaur devised a scheme to steal the Horn and use it to summon a monster to destroy Atlantis, wiping out the Atlantean population as a blood sacrifice to the elder god Set. He dispatched Deviants to follow Namor and, upon his command, steal the Horn. Now, the New Mutants have just returned from Asgard and are searching for X-Factor’s Ship over the Atlantic Ocean. In Atlantis, the Deviants break into Sub-Mariner’s cousin Namorita’s bedroom to steal the Horn, and she fails to stop them. A trio of Atlantean mutants called Surf—Eel, Sharkskin, and Undertow—come to her aid, but she mistakes them for more attackers. Undertow uses his powers to restrain Namorita, the trio introduce themselves, and she enlists their help in going after the Horn. As several of the Deviants resemble the New Mutants, Namorita mistakenly thinks they stole the Horn so she and Surf attack the team on the surface. Aboard his submarine, Ghaur tells Llyra this misdirection was part of his plan and that, with Namorita out of Atlantis, the city is vulnerable. On the surface, the New Mutants win the battle and explain they do not have the Horn. Namorita realizes she has been duped, and the New Mutants offer to help. Namorita and Surf sense Ghaur’s use of the Horn to summon a monster to Atlantis, and they lead the New Mutants to the city. Together, they wound the monster but quickly learn its blood poisons the surrounding water. One of the monster’s tentacles breaches the hull of Ghaur’s submarine, causing the Horn to be swept outside and crushed beneath some rubble. With many Atlanteans killed in the attack, Ghaur declares victory and leaves. The New Mutants, Namorita, and Surf combine their powers to lure the monster into a deep trench. Boom-Boom creates a massive time-bomb which Eel places in the creature’s mouth. Once it detonates, the group collapses the trench on the monster. Upon returning to Atlantis, Namorita and Surf resolve to stay and help survivors while the New Mutants depart for the surface.

Synopsis for "A Case of the Cutes"
Tired of studying, Boom-Boom complains to Ship that the boys of the New Mutants are too boring. Rictor asks her if she wants to go out, but she makes up excuses why she cannot and turns him down. Afterward, she flops down on her bed and dozes off. She dreams she steps out of the comic and scuffles with the artist drawing her. Then, she asks him to set her up with a cute guy. He draws Spider-Man, but Boom-Boom does not want to get between him and Mary Jane. Next, she turns down Mr. Fantastic because he is married. The artist draws her as a housewife married to Captain America with two adolescent sons, but she does not want to be a mother. Boom-Boom declares Daredevil too serious and Sub-Mariner too self-absorbed. She finds Dr. Doom and Dr. Octopus too clingy. She rejects the Hulk, Wolverine, and the Punisher, too. Finally, she asks the artist for someone cute and lovable, and he draws her young Franklin Richards a.k.a. Tattletale. Boom-Boom thinks he is a little young, but then Franklin kisses her on the cheek, and she decides he is worth the wait.

Synopsis for "Saga of the Serpent Crown part 9: Crowned Heads"
Uatu the Watcher observes the Lemurian throne room where emperor Naga and his priestess of Set use mystic mists to recount their recovery of the Serpent Crown. Following the death of Paul Destine, the U.S. government hired the Thing to transport the Crown to Washington, D.C., but Sub-Mariner intercepted him and took it. Namor took the Crown to Atlantis where it reverted to its original form and was given to Namor’s lover, Dorma. Under its influence, she and the Atlanteans tried to sacrifice Namor to Set, but he resisted, took back the Crown, and hurled it into a trench. Naga’s agent Karthon recovered the Crown and battled Namor, but then both men were captured by the pirate Captain Barracuda. They escaped Barracuda and resumed their fight at the Panama Canal. Karthon won and took Namor captive. Now, he returns to Lemuria and gives the Crown to Naga. Naga dons the Crown and feels its power surge through him.
