Synopsis for "The Beginning of the End part 1"
In his valet in Vail, industrialist Gideon trains against combat droids and reviews his itinerary for the day. In the Danger Room at Xavier’s School, Cannonball trains with Cable, focusing on quieting his blast field. At da Costa International in Brasilia, Emmanuel da Costa dies after drinking poisoned coffee that his assistant—actually an assassin sent by Gideon—brought him. Back at the school, Rictor tells Boom-Boom he is going back to Genosha to get Rahne, but Boom-Boom refuses to join him. In the library, Cable is ambushed by the mercenary Deadpool. Sent by a man named Tolliver to kill Cable, Deadpool holds him at gunpoint until Cannonball strikes from behind. Deadpool restrains Cannonball and fights Cable hand to hand as the other New Mutants enter the room. Deadpool fends off Rictor but falls when Cable’s friend Domino arrives and throws knives into his back. Called by Cable to help with the team, she introduces herself. After Cable mails Deadpool back to Tolliver, he and Domino review profiles of former New Mutants. Meanwhile, Rictor leaves a note for Boom-Boom and sneaks out of the bunker to go after Rahne. Later that night, Sunspot wakes up to Gideon standing by his bed, and Gideon tells him his father is dead.
