- This issue takes place while Earth-616 temporarily merged with Earth-58163 known as the House of M event.
- Most of Hellions and New Mutants died in the explosion at Emperor Sunfire's Imperial Palace. However, some died before:
- Synch jumped on a grenade to save his teammates.
- Laurie Garrison was stabbed by Cessily Kincaid.
- Moonstar's abdomen was cut by Donald Pierce, but she then used his own knife to kill him.
- Quill was frozen and then shattered by Sunfire's men.
- Sophie Cuckoo was shot repeatedly by Pierce.
