Synopsis for "Encounters in a Crowded Alley!"
Night Man asks where Chalk is, and the man standing before him says he killed Chalk for the gem lying on the ground. He introduces himself as the Norse god Loki, recently arrived in this universe and searching for the gem and the set to which it belongs. Night Man tackles Loki, but Loki easily throws him off. Night Man grabs the gem, and Loki reveals it is the Reality Gem, one of the six Infinity Gems. The gem creates a duplicate of Night Man, but Night Man immediately uses the gem to destroy him. Loki says reality is a series of choices, but for the gem, reality is all possible choices. When the gem again duplicates Night Man, Loki says he will return later and teleports away. Night Man realizes the gem duplicates him every time he makes a choice. The number of Night Men keeps doubling until one decides to encompass everything there is, becoming one with the universe. However, the vastness of existence proves too much for him, and he disintegrates. Night Man commands the gem to erase all duplicates without a gem, reducing the number to seven. Each believing he is the original, they turn on each other and fight. One and then another orders the gem to erase the others, but nothing happens. A third does so and succeeds, but then the gem creates another duplicate over the choice of whether to fight Loki. When one Night Man drops the gem, Loki reappears, picks it up, and destroys the other Night Man. Once Loki teleports away with the gem, the remaining Night Man is thankful the fight is over, unaware one duplicate survived and lurks behind him.
