Flashpoint Vol 2 1 Textless

This section of the history takes place during Flashpoint, a massive crossover event set in an alternate timeline to the mainstream DCU. History was completely changed when Professor Zoom finally found a way to erase his nemesis the Flash without harming his own legacy.

The daughter of the brilliant scientist Myron Mazursky, Nina's childhood was altered when a disease ravaged her lungs. Desperate to save her, her father used radical experiments to transform her into an amphibian. When the military learned of his work, they recruited him for Project M, in which they attempted to create super soldiers. For years, his efforts floundered, until 1942, when an American patrol unit led by Lt. Matthew Shrieve stumbled upon Frankenstein trapped beneath the ice in the North Atlantic. After seeing how Frankenstein's reputation inspired fear in others, it occurred to Dr. Mazursky that if he could make the super soldiers look like monsters from folklore, this would give them a large advantage over the enemy that would compensate for their lack of "superhuman" abilities. Thus began the Creature Commandos, but the project was not entirely without cost to Dr. Mazursky; in order to assuage fears that the transformations were permanent, he allowed the military to draft Nina, insisting that he would never perform such radical experiments on his own daughter if he was not sure they could be reversed (it is unknown whether he truly intended to reverse her transformation, but given the nature of her life before the experiments, it seems unlikely.)

For the next two years, the Creature Commandos tore through Germany, spreading fear wherever they went, until 1945, when they managed to break into the bunker where Adolf Hitler and his generals were meeting. Frankenstein easily overpowered the defenses and slew the Fuhrer with his sword.

When World War II ended, the Creature Commandos had hoped to retire, but they were betrayed; Project M was taken over by Robert Crane, who viewed the Commandos as abominations and thus forced all of them into cryogenic suspension. Sixty-five years passed before the stasis tube holding Frankenstein was damaged, enabling him to escape. He freed his fellow commandos, and together they broke out of the Metropolis labs. With Lt. Shrieve long dead, Frankenstein now leads the Creature Commandos as they search for Dr. Mazursky's notes, hoping to find a way to lead normal lives in the new century. As the last known member of the Mazursky family, and thus the only person with any idea of where her father's notes might be found, Nina has become Frankenstein's right hand.
