Synopsis for "T.N.T. Birthday"Edit

When new recruit William West reports for duty, Sgt. Rock has some strong doubts about the lad being a good soldier due to his young age. Rock doesn't believe the boy when he tells Rock that he's seventeen (justly so, the boy is crossing his fingers behind his back.)
Rock is about to send the lad back until he is a more appropriate age and has more fighting experience. However, the men of Easy Co. (especially Ice Cream Soldier, and Bulldozer) pressure Rock into letting the kid stay on board. This doesn't sit well with Rock, but he allows it, only until things get to harry for the boy to deal with.

Time and again, Easy Co. gets into conflict with Nazi forces, and each time William has to have his fat pulled out of the fire. Yet each time Rock demands the boy gets sent back, the men disagree with him. It's not until a final skirmish when William holds off Nazi attackers with grenades until more soldiers can arrive, does Rock believe he's fit to be part of the unit. Afterwards, he jokes about needing a microscope to see the hair growing on the boys face.
