Synopsis for "Cause and Effect"

As debris rains down on the street below, Noel freezes time inside the explosion and teleports the hostages to safety. One hostage, named Debbie, was shocked by his killing of the terrorists, and he takes her unconscious form home. Later, she wakes up on her couch, and Noel explains how he saved her. They watch news coverage of the incident on TV, and, to Noel’s frustration, the police blame him. Debbie points out he could have saved the terrorists too, but he insists they deserved to die. In the desert, Adam Warlock has been meditating for days. Hungry and tired, he hallucinates a cartoon reptile that leads him into a cave and to outer space. Warlock bypasses illusions of his old enemies and encounters one of his mentor, the High Evolutionary. It tells him to seek answers within, and he recalls his maturation throughout his various incarnations. As he is still unaware how and why he came to this universe, the reptile directs Warlock to a “city of angels”. Returning to reality, Warlock deduces he means Los Angeles. Back at her apartment, Debbie tells Noel he has no right to play god, but he argues his power gives him the responsibility to act. Once the sun sets, he dozes off, and she calls the police. Erik takes control of Gemini, shifts into his vampire form, and attacks Debbie. Because she called the police on him, Noel feels betrayed and lets Erik kill her. Soon, a LAPD SWAT team arrives and finds Erik covered in blood.
