Synopsis for "Form Follows Unction"

In the sewers, Sludge remembers Lord Pumpkin force-feeding Zuke capsules to Bloodstorm and eats some himself hoping the Zuke will either kill him or restore his humanity. He also shoves a capsule into his abdomen, but nothing happens. On the street above, a woman calling herself Vinaigrette projects an oily substance from her hands, causing three police cars chasing her to slip and crash. Riding the ostrich-like Organism 0.9B, she enters an alley and runs into Sludge. A cop follows her and opens fire on Sludge, enabling her to escape. Toxic fumes escape from Sludge’s wounds, and he flees. The next morning, he wakes up in a sewer able to think clearly. Though still covered in black goo, his body has returned to its normal size. To walk the streets unnoticed, he breaks into a church mission and steals a hat and some clothes. Next, he breaks into his old apartment only to be caught by the current residents, shocked to learn they have been living there for nine months. One of them clubs Sludge with a baseball bat, knocking him down the fire escape into the alley below. For help, he visits Shelley Rogers. After convincing her of his identity and telling her how he became Sludge, he wants to identify the chemical that transformed him. Rogers verifies his story and tracks down a scientist who worked in the Caldwell Pharmaceuticals lab. The scientist reveals Caldwell developed Re-Gen, a substance which accelerated human healing via rapid tissue regeneration, and directs her to Dr. Ferdinand Lalama who started the project 20 years ago. Rogers and Sludge trace Lalama to a dilapidated house in rural Pennsylvania. An old woman answers the front door but refuses to let them in so Sludge punches through the door. When she calls for help, Vinaigrette and Organism 0.9B come to her aid and attack Sludge. They are soon joined by the old woman's sons, the super-strong Bash Brothers.
