- This episode serves as part of a two-part crossover between Spider-Man: The Animated Series and X-Men: The Animated Series.
- The origin of Beast is referred to in this episode and he is shown in his human form in a flashback scene. Hank McCoy's early work looking for a cure for his mutancy was eventually continued by Herbert Landon who instead wanted to destroy all mutants.
- Jean Grey is the only member of the X-Men who doesn't speak in this episode.

- When Beast says "Methinks the lady doth protest too much" he is paraphrasing Queen Gertrude from Act III, Scene II of Hamlet by William Shakespeare.
