This episode serves as part of a two-part crossover between Spider-Man: The Animated Series and X-Men: The Animated Series.
- The origin of Beast is referred to in this episode and he is shown in his human form in a flashback scene. Hank McCoy's early work looking for a cure for his mutancy was eventually continued by Herbert Landon who instead wanted to destroy all mutants.
- Jean Grey is the only member of the X-Men who doesn't speak in this episode.

When Beast says "Methinks the lady doth protest too much" he is paraphrasing Queen Gertrude from Act III, Scene II of Hamlet by William Shakespeare.
