Synopsis for "The Mutant Factor!"

Spider-Man swings through Manhattan to find Beast. Earlier, he and Mary Jane discussed having a baby, including the possibility his superhuman powers would cause their child to be a mutant. Peter saw a newspaper article that Beast, a mutant biochemist, was giving a lecture at Empire State University and decided to seek his advice. At a local hospital, a patient transforms into a super-strong monster and escapes. Spider-Man arrives at ESU to find Beast under attack by an energy-wielding mutant supremacist named Powerhouse. Spider-Man takes her on, enabling Beast to subdue anti-mutant terrorist Masterblaster. When Beast turns back to Powerhouse, she blasts him, and then Spider-Man punches her through a window. Afterward, he and Beast sit on a rooftop, and Beast explains the challenges of parenting a mutant child. On the street below, the escaped monster upends a tractor-trailer, and Spider-Man and Beast move to intervene. They fight him in the streets then into the sewers beneath, but he overpowers them both with his strength. Just as he starts to drown Spider-Man, a man approaches and calls him Joey. Actually a child, he reverts to human form and embraces the man, his father. Joey’s father explains that the boy’s mother took him to a hospital when he got sick. Beast tells the father about a special nursery that cares for superhuman children. He offers to help Joey enroll there, and the father accepts. Later, Spider-Man returns home, and Mary Jane says they are not ready to be parents. Peter agrees they should wait until they are, and they embrace.
