Eddie Cassavetes worked in the retrieval business, locating stolen technology and missing persons in Tokyo in 2145 AD, in a world owned by the "Tech Corps". When hired to locate and retrieve 15,000 New Yen worth of sports equipment, he found himself in a fight to the death when his employers failed to mention that the sport in question was ritual combat. Eddie and his associate Suzi delivered the remains of the equipment (and its wearer) to a less than pleased Oshima executive who nonetheless paid him what he was owed.

Tracer, like the story Canned Heat in the same issue, was intended to be a pilot episode for an ongoing series in a new Fleetway title, Earthside 8, but aside from a two parter in 2000 AD progs 948 and 949 (published some time later just to use up the already half-finished material), Eddie was never heard from again when the project was cancelled. Ironically, he disappeared.
