Synopsis for "Mosh Pit!"

TV news reports on the apparent suicide of rock star Mosh in Seattle and an ensuing rash of copycat suicides across the U.S. Ghoul watches the report aboard Contrary’s ship and decides to investigate. At the crime scene, coroner Whitney Richards interrupts the lead detective, aspiring politician Darren Creamer, during a press conference to show him evidence that Mosh was murdered. Seeking quick closure of the case, Creamer destroys the evidence and insists it was suicide. Upon arriving in Seattle, Ghoul stops a young woman from killing herself to be with Mosh. After the police take her into custody, Richards asks Ghoul to help her prove Mosh was murdered. In the morgue, they discover Mosh’s corpse has been replaced with that of another man. Ghoul uses his powers to question the man’s spirit, leading him and Richards to the night club where Mosh got his start. Inside, they see Mosh’s body tied to a cross, and the clubgoers swarm them until Ghoul forces them to back off. He interrogates Mosh’s spirit who accuses his lover Roxanna. When Ghoul and Richards question her, she points them to a bar, and Ghoul scares the bartender into directing them to Mosh’s drug addict friend Spook. Soon, Ghoul and Richards find Spook’s body floating near the shore, half of his corpse invisible. Ghoul realizes Spook was an Ultra and gets his spirit to describe how he killed Mosh. Vindicated, Richards presents her theory of the case to the media, and Creamer withdraws from running for office. Ghoul returns to the morgue, awakens Mosh’s spirit, and gets him to confess to using his own Ultra powers to force Spook to kill him. Mosh reveals the constant media attention made him suicidal and says he never asked to be an Ultra. Disgusted, Ghoul says neither did he and walks away.
