Synopsis for "Destiny's Child"
In a Colorado mountain cabin, the mutant Preacher paints a picture of X-Factor’s Shard based on his precognitive visions. Once finished, he realizes it forms half of a larger image with a painting he made earlier of her brother Bishop. He then burns down the cabin and flees before a squad of armed operatives arrive to abduct him. Upon seeing the painting of Shard, the general overseeing the squad orders she and Preacher be taken into custody and deploys the Hound. In Nevada, Bishop and Storm descend into Las Vegas from the Blackbird, and he recalls growing up in the future with Shard in the city’s ruins. Shard waits to meet them with her teammate Wild Child, but Bishop insists the real Shard is dead and this one is just a holographic copy. While the Hound drops into the city from a helicopter, Bishop and Shard recollect the death of their guardian Hancock and their subsequent rescue by the XSE. Bishop remains aloof, and Shard is about to leave when Preacher appears, rambles about his visions, and shows them a tattoo he made of the two of them fighting the Hound. Just then, the Hound attacks, downs Bishop, and steals the holographic emitter containing Shard’s essence. Later, Storm and Wild Child revive Bishop, he tells them what happened, and they discover Preacher left them a clue to where the Hound took Shard. At Area 51, a shadowy figure watches as a scientist begins disassembling Shard’s form and scanning her memories. Bishop, Storm, and Wild Child burst into the facility, fight past the Hound, and free Shard. Using the last of her power, Shard destroys the emitter, orders Bishop to get Storm and Wild Child out alive, and vanishes. Shard’s sacrifice convinces Bishop of her identity, and he hits the Hound with an energy blast. As the facility self-destructs, Storm flies Bishop and Wild Child into the air to escape. The Hound leaps after them but fails to catch them and falls back to the ground. Later aboard the Blackbird, Shard reappears, reveals she is free of the emitter, and hugs Bishop. In another Colorado cabin, Preacher paints a picture of the Avengers and the X-Men battling Onslaught. Monitoring him are the scientist from Area 51 and his shadowy boss, Bastion.
