Synopsis for "Crossroads"
Earthquakes have devastated the city of Punta Arenas, Argentina, and scientists suspect electromagnetic disturbances generated from Antarctica are the cause. In response, the UN have dispatched Nick Fury and SHIELD to investigate. In the Savage Land, Ka-Zar, a still powerless Rogue, and Magneto find the remains of several SHIELD helicopters destroyed by Zaladane. A trio of Savage Land Mutates attack, but Magneto subdues them and forces them to reveal that Zaladane is launching an assault on his citadel the next day. He leaves the Mutates in an underground cavern and returns to his citadel with Ka-Zar and Rogue. As they prepare defenses, Magneto mulls the similarity between Zaladane and his earlier, villainous self. That night, he has a nightmare about his family’s murder by the Nazis. Rogue wakes him just before Ka-Zar enters and warns that Zaladane has begun her attack. Magneto flies out to confront her, but she swiftly overpowers him, sending him plummeting to the ground below. The remaining Savage Land Mutates subdue Rogue and Ka-Zar, but Nick Fury arrives with a SHIELD team and drives the Mutates off. As the SHIELD team debates whether to retreat or stay and fight, Magneto stumbles into camp. Semyanov, a Soviet colonel, wants to arrest Magneto as his son who was on a submarine Magneto sank, but Fury and Rogue stop him. Magneto tells Rogue that Zaladane’s growing magnetic powers threaten the entire planet. She convinces the SHIELD team to accept his help even as he worries how they will react once he kills Zaladane. At Xavier’s School, Lila Cheney’s bodyguard Guido tells Cyclops and Marvel Girl that Lila took the X-Men to save Professor X. She and the team materialize in a chamber whose walls come alive and bind them with slimy tentacles. Deathbird enters and declares she has brought them there to kill the professor.
