Synopsis for "...For What I Have Done"

In the Acolytes’ undersea base, the group is ready to kill Fabian Cortez after learning from Exodus how he tried to kill Magneto. On Magneto’s orders, Exodus saves Cortez, but then Cortez attacks. Exodus blasts him unconscious and teleports away with the Acolytes. At Xavier’s School, Professor X broods over his failure to save Illyana and questions his leadership of the X-Men. Lilandra appears as a hologram and consoles him, but her transmission soon fades out. Xavier resolves not to fail against Magneto. Aboard the space station Avalon, Magneto prepares to confront the X-Men. He recalls, decades ago, fending off soldiers sent to kill him as he buried his daughter Anya and assures himself that militant separatism is the only way to protect mutants. Back at the school, Storm takes Shadowcat flying to lift her spirits until Kitty spots Colossus burning his paintings. She begs him to shop, and he lets her take one of Illyana, claiming he feels nothing. Nearby, Banshee and Bishop discuss the latter’s dystopian timeline, and Banshee refuses to believe it is the real future. An hour later, the X-Men along with members of Excalibur, X-Factor, and X-Force gather for Illyana’s funeral. After Storm delivers the eulogy, Colossus berates Xavier for failing him and Illyana. Suddenly, Magneto appears overhead, pontificates about his goals, and invites the assembled teams to join him. Exodus arrives with the Acolytes, and Magneto uses his powers to freeze the X-Men and their allies in place. When Quicksilver tells him about the Acolyte Senyaka’s recent act of mass murder, Magneto kills Senyaka for acting without his permission. Next, Magneto brings Avalon down into the atmosphere, massively disrupting weather in the region. Xavier scolds Magneto for his aggression until Bishop, having absorbed much of Magneto’s energy, unleashes a blast that sends Magneto flying. Infuriated, Magneto declares he will kill thousands of humans for every mutant who died of the Legacy Virus. As the other X-Men feed Bishop energy from their powers, Rogue tries to absorb Magneto’s powers to no avail, and he tosses her aside. Bishop, Gambit, Iceman, and Sunspot batter him with their powers, and Jean realizes he is holding Avalon together by force of will. Awed by Magneto’s persistence, Colossus decides to join him, pounds Bishop, and joins the Acolytes aboard Avalon. Professor X rails against Magneto, telepathically takes control of his powers, lifts them both high into the sky, and hurls Magneto and Avalon away from Earth. Afterward, Xavier falls until Archangel catches him.
