Synopsis for "Romp"
Storm and Yukio flee out a window, and the techno-organic, shapeshifting Phalanx chase them through Manhattan. Yukio reveals she is a member of Professor X’s pro-mutant underground. On the way to meet her and Storm, Gambit flirts with a driver at a stoplight until he hears one of Storm’s thunderbolts. In Times Square, Storm blasts the Phalanx to pieces with lightning, but they reform themselves and wound Yukio with an energy blast. They have been trailing her for weeks, and Yukio came to New York to warn Storm. A man attacks the Phalanx with a baseball bat, and they absorb him into their mass despite Storm’s efforts to save him. After she blasts them into an underground subway station, they overpower her, but Gambit arrives and strikes them with explosively charged cards. The Phalanx absorb his motorcycle, including its fuel, so he throws another charged card at them, igniting the gasoline. Storm flies Gambit and Yukio away from the explosion until, exhausted, she crashes onto the deck of the USS Intrepid at the city’s Sea, Air & Space Museum. Having crossed paths with Gambit in the past, Yukio distrusts him until Storm vouches for him. The driver Gambit flirted with earlier appears, claims she works for the National Security Council, and says they have been monitoring the Phalanx. But, when the Phalanx arrive, she proves to be one of them. In the Xavier’s School infirmary, Beast performs CPR on Iceman as Jubilee informs Professor X of the power outage. Xavier finds he cannot read Iceman’s mind, and he and Jubilee notice the White Queen’s eyes are open.
