Synopsis for "The Heart"

Immediately after his confrontation with Strand, Warstrike is assaulted by a cyborg named Nero. Warstrike hides and uses the gunpowder from some bullets to improvise a flare. Nero bursts through a wall and wounds him, but then he lights Nero on fire with the flare and leaves. As Warstrike rides away on his motorcycle, he wonders if Nero was hired to protect Strand or to kill Strand. A week ago, Warstrike was hired by U.S. Senator Alan Kline to rescue his kidnapped daughter Mitsy. Eventually, Warstrike followed a lead to the warehouse where he encountered Strand and Strand’s mutated henchman Niko. Now, Warstrike returns to his mansion, changes out of costume, and resumes his identity as wealthy playboy Brandon Tark. Shelby Calleros, who manages his affairs, scolds him for ignoring his real life, and his girlfriend Jill berates him for missing their date. When Shelby asks if being Warstrike is worth risking his life, he says yes. Elsewhere, Brother Kyle convenes a meeting of Xanadu Amalgamated’s board of directors and rants about the threat Ultras pose, specifically Warstrike’s interference with his plans. Kyle then introduces Blind Faith, an Ultra assassin he has hired to kill Warstrike. Meanwhile, Warstrike visits his armorer Nathaniel “Giz” Wells in their hi-tech cave base, and Giz shows him a new wrist gauntlet that fires explosive charges. Warstrike impetuously fires it, causing an explosion that nearly brings down the cave. Giz angrily lectures him, and he leaves for a ride on his motorcycle. On the road, something blows it up, throwing him into some nearby trees. He rises to his feet, demands his attacker show themselves, and sees a figure emerge from the flaming wreckage of his motorcycle.
