History

Arrowverse

Earth-1

On pre-Crisis Earth-1, Waverider was originally created by the Time Masters, who designed it as timeship WR-2059.

In 2015, the former Time Master Rip Hunter recruited a group of individuals to help him stop Vandal Savage from taking over the world in 2166, unveiling the Waverider to the team and using it as their headquarters.

Earth-Prime

On Earth-Prime, the mad scientist Bishop created his own version of the Waverider and destroyed the Legends' version in 1925, leaving them stranded in the past.

Earth-74

On pre-Crisis Earth 74, the Legends had all retired, leaving the Waverider to rust with Mick Rory as its only inhabitant. Gideon had been replaced by the personality and voice of Leonard Snart. During the Crisis on Infinite Earths, the heroes use this Waverider in their attempts to stop the Anti-Monitor and his anti-matter wave from destroying the multiverse, but this timeship was eventually destroyed by antimatter along with the last remaining universe.

Earth-X

On pre-Crisis Earth-X, Waverider was known as "Wellenreiter" and was designed as timeship WR-1945. It was used by the New Reich to invade Earth-1, but was eventually destroyed by Cisco Ramon using the Earth-1 Waverider.

Stored items

Inside, the Waverider houses a display of items Rip Hunter and the Legends collected over the years from their adventures.

Compartments

In total, the Waverider has 36 compartments, each varying in use. A flaw of the ship is that it can accommodate at least nine people with bedrooms, but it only has one bathroom.

Waverider promotional art

  • In the ship, food is created using a fabricator. Mick notes it tastes fake, and laments that everything in the future has no added sugar.
  • Once, Rip Hunter medically regenerated Leonard Snart's hand in the medical bay.
  • Waverider is powered by a time drive, which can leak deadly temporal radiation if damaged, and it vaporizes on contact with a speedster's negative tachyons.
