Synopsis for "Circus Maximus"
The WildC.A.T.s are mourning Sister Eve when Lord Entropy swoops in and flies away with her corpse. Elsewhere, de Medici and her Puritan squad open another time portal. The time flux creates a separate portal that envelops the WildC.A.T.s as well. In the present, Emp, Jules, Maul, and Warblade escape from Sector 52 as it explosively self-destructs, flying away in the MIRV which Jules had summoned and cloaked. FBI Agents Clark and Ludlum are flying toward Sector 52 when their plane is struck by the shockwave from the blast. Meanwhile, the WildC.A.T.s materialize outside ancient Rome. The strain of the time shifts tears Void apart, and she disappears. The team splits up to investigate their surroundings, and Max and Grifter get captured by the Praetorian Guard and its leader, Tiberius. They are taken to a prison and then released into the Colosseum with Christian dissidents to be killed by a lion. After a brief meeting with Tiberius, the Roman emperor is revealed to be possessed by Helspont.
Trivia
- What happens to Void after she disappears in this story is revealed in DV8 Annual 1999.
