Synopsis for "Claws Along the Mohawk"

Albert, Elsie Dee, and Bloodscream land on Muir Island and find it devastated by the X-Men’s recent battle with the Phalanx. Albert senses Wolverine was there but cannot locate him. At Bloodscream’s request, Elsie Dee relates the rest of her and Albert’s adventure in the past: along with the Hunter in Darkness, they arrived amidst a battle between factions of the Siksika tribe. One faction’s leader—Man Killer Wolf—attacked Albert so he, Elsie Dee, and the Hunter fought back and drove that faction away. Afterward, a variant of Forge appeared and explained to the trio that Man Killer Wolf was an agent of his trickster god nemesis, the Adversary. Forge and his timeline’s Wolverine came back in time to stop them. Nearby, the Adversary magically empowered Man Killer Wolf and sent him back to the Siksika village to capture Forge. He fought Wolverine until Forge shot him with an energy rifle and then he fled. Forge and Wolverine went after him, leaving Albert, Elsie Dee, and the Hunter to guard the village. Albert succeeded in running a gauntlet of Siksika warriors and became their war chief. After seeing an explosion on the horizon, the trio went to investigate and deduced it was a temporal burst that displaced Forge and Wolverine in time. The three decided to stay with the Siksika and search for Wolverine, but they never found him. Now, Albert is able to detect Wolverine in Tibet so he, Elsie Dee, and Bloodscream take off in their jet to fly there.

In a dystopian future timeline, the time-displaced Wolverine defeats a mutant-hunting cyborg. Forge arrives with that timeline’s Albert, and Wolverine finds the head of that timeline’s Elsie Dee in a toolbox. She and Albert conclude that the adamantium skeleton they went back in time to investigate came from an erased timeline. As the group departs in their aircraft, Forge agrees to build Elsie Dee a new body, and Wolverine reveals he preserved one of her pink dresses for her to wear.

Trivia

  • The present-day scenes in this story featuring Albert, Elsie Dee, and Bloodscream on Muir Island take place at the same time as Cable #16. After this issue, the plotline involving their search for Wolverine is dropped and never followed up on. Albert and Elsie Dee next appear in Generation X #42. Bloodscream next appears in X-Men Unlimited #9.
  • This story was meant to tie up loose ends that began in Wolverine Vol 2 #52, explaining how there was a Wolverine skeleton with adamantium bones especially after Wolverine lost his adamantium in X-Men Vol 2 #25.
