Synopsis for "Kings of Pain part 4: King of Pain"

While other superhero teams remain in reserve, X-Factor flies into the reality warp that has enveloped Edinburgh.  Their plane breaks up around them, and they find themselves in a bizarre landscape under assault by geometric shapes.  Once they fight their way through, Proteus appears with Harness and Moira as his captives. X-Factor attacks, but Proteus easily fends them off and announces his plan to remake the world.  As he was beaten once before with metal, Beast strikes him with metal gauntlets, but it has no effect.  In New York, AIM writes off their scheme to resurrect and control Proteus as a failure.  Proteus teleports X-Factor to the space where he is holding the Muir Island X-Men, New Warriors, and X-Force.  Marvel Boy relates the events that led to Proteus’s return.  Then, Marvel Girl has Legion telepathically show everyone the peace Proteus had found after death.  To stop him, Cyclops declares they have to convince him to commit suicide. Meanwhile, Moira tries to talk Proteus down, but he justifies his plan by pointing to the abuse Piecemeal—with whom he has merged—experienced at the hands of his mother, Harness.  Several heroes object to Cyclops’s plan, and the four teams debate what to do.  Proteus teleports them all back to Edinburgh, and they suggest multiple ideas to help him have a decent life.  When Marvel Girl asks what will make him happy, he says he wants either Moira and Harness’s love or to be dead again.  Realizing the two women can never give him what he needs, Proteus restores reality to normal and vanishes, seemingly destroying himself.  Back in New York, AIM learns X-Factor has turned Harness over to police and notes they have her daughter, also a mutant, in custody. In Vail, the two masterminds behind Proteus’s resurrection—Gideon and the Toad—conclude their chess game in a draw and drink a toast to their scheming.

Synopsis for "Tribute The Third"

Mystique is aboard a cruise ship to fulfill Destiny’s last request by scattering her ashes at sea at 10 pm precisely, and also has a letter from Destiny to open just before the ashes are scattered. The letter contains Beatles lyrics, a ring, and a photo. Raven remembers the day the photo was taken, when Destiny begged Raven to cheer up and be happy for once. Irene says that she will make Raven laugh if it is the last thing she ever does. Raven weeps as she throws Destiny’s ashes overboard, as she never did make her smile. However, a gust of wind kicks up, and the ashes fly back in Mystique’s face. She falls to the deck, cursing her luck, then realizes how silly it all is, and begins to laugh hysterically. Raven goes below deck, singing their song.
