Synopsis for "Ghosts"

While tracking Sabretooth, Caliban finds Archangel passed out and wounded on a rooftop, but Sabretooth is gone. Archangel wakes up delirious and lashes out. To prove his own superiority, Caliban decides to kill Archangel. Elsewhere in the city, Jean briefly hallucinates seeing Mastermind. Afterward, Scott takes her to Central Park where they have a snowball fight and kiss. The restaurant Iceman takes Opal to is closed so she invites him back to her place for leftovers. On the way, they run into Officer Jones, and she tells how Archangel saved her earlier. On the rooftop, Archangel and Caliban exchange blows and argue about their transformations by Apocalypse. In Central Park, Jean takes Scott to Belvedere Castle, and he asks her to marry him. In SoHo, Nathan’s Ship-built stroller spots Mole following Bobby and Opal. Stunned, Mole accidentally disables a crane, causing some girders to fall, but Iceman catches them and immobilizes him. Caliban tackles Archangel, and they fall into the street. Before Caliban can kill him, Officer Jones and her partner arrive. Caliban flees, and she calls an ambulance for Archangel. In SoHo, Iceman and Mole battle until Opal recognizes Mole and stops them. Sabretooth watches from nearby and decides to kill Mole. In the park, Jean tells Scott she loves him, but, feeling pressured by Phoenix and Madelyne’s memories, she rejects his proposal. Back in SoHo, Mole assures Opal and Iceman he is safe now and returns to the sewers, unaware Sabretooth is waiting for him.

Trivia

Though Marvel Girl turns down Cyclops's marriage proposal in this story, she later proposes to him in Uncanny X-Men #308. He accepts, and they marry in X-Men Vol 2 #30.
